Abstract (en)

A hydraulically damped actuator for closing a hinged closure member (1). The actuator comprises: an energy storing mechanism for storing energy when opening the closure member (1) and using the energy to close the closure member (1); and a damping mechanism for damping a closing movement of the closure member (1). The damping mechanism comprises: a rotating damper shaft (32) having a first end with an end face (68) and a non-circular cross-sectioned portion (52); a synthetic spindle (50) having an outer threaded portion (55) and a non-circular cross-sectioned recess (51) fitting onto the damper shaft (32); and a piston (41) with an inner threaded portion (56) in engagement with the outer threaded portion (55) of the spindle (50). The spindle (50) is fixed to the damper shaft (32) by two bolts (53) bolted through a bottom (86) of the spindle (50) into the end face (68) of the damper shaft (32) thereby irrotatably fastening the spindle (50) to the damper shaft (32). As such, the recess (51) is less likely to deform.
