[origin: WO2017037002A1] Cosmetic or dermatological composition, which contain - depending on the total weight thereof - a) 0.001 to 15.00 wt.% ascorbic acid, an ascorbic acid salt and/or an ascorbic acid derivative, and b) 0.100 to 5.00 wt.% of at least one compound of the following formula, HO-(C6H4)-O-CH(R)-C(O)OX, in which X stands for –H, an alk(en)yl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, for an alkali metal cation or for an ammonia ion, and R stands for –H or for a linear or cross-linked, saturated or unsaturated alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and which are suitable for the non-therapeutic, cosmetic use for treatment of the skin, in particular for reducing, removing and/or inhibiting irregular pigmentations (age spots and/or freckles) and/or obtaining a uniform skin appearance and/or preventing and/or inhibiting the formation of the pigments lipofuscin and melanin in the skin, affecting all relevant steps of melanogenesis, including inhibiting tyrosinase, inhibiting the TRP1 and TRP2 enzyme (preventing the conversion of tyrosine into melanin), inhibiting the gene gp100 (inhibiting melanin transfer via melanogenesis).
