[origin: WO2017036941A1] In a gas expansion motor (1), in particular a compressed air motor which comprises a compressed air source (2) and at least one piston-cylinder arrangement (3) comprising a cylinder (4), a piston (5) movably guided therein, an inlet valve (8) which at a first dead centre of the piston (5) connects a working space (9) of the cylinder (4) to the compressed gas source (2), and an outlet valve (5, 11) which at the other second dead centre of the piston (5) connects the working space (9) to the surroundings, according to the invention, when the inlet valve (8) opens at the first dead centre, the gas present in the working space (9) is compressed by the piston (5) to an overpressure that is greater than the ambient pressure and less than the pressure of the compressed gas source (2), and the inlet valve (8) is formed as an overpressure valve which is open at the first dead centre by a predetermined overpressure prevailing in the working space (9), in order to connect the working space (9) to the compressed gas source (2) at the first dead centre.
