According to one embodiment, the method for managing the guest room in a server of a guest room management system including at least one terminal and a gateway includes: determining a state of the guest room, assigning a housekeeper to the guest room based on the state of the guest room, and transmitting information of the guest room to a terminal of the housekeeper; and receiving and updating a housekeeping state from the terminal of the housekeeper. In addition, the present disclosure also relates to technologies for a sensor network, machine to machine (M2M), machine type communication (MTC), and Internet of Things (IoT). The present disclosure is able to be utilized in intelligent services (a smart home, a smart building, a smart city, a smart car or a connected car, health care, digital education, retail, security and safety related services, etc.) based on the technologies.
