[origin: WO2017050796A1] The present invention relates to a method for the care and cleaning of automatic dishwashers, which eliminates deposits of fat and limescale in an automatic dishwasher and can be used in a normal dish-washing cycle together with a dishwasher detergent for machines, wherein, in a normal cleaning cycle for cleaning items to be washed, in particular dirty crockery, using a dishwasher detergent for machines, a care product for automatic dishwashers is added that is separately formulated from the dishwasher detergent, wherein the care product (a) contains at least one non-ionic surfactant and (b) at least one acid or a buffer system formed by at least one acid and at least one base, and wherein a 10 wt.% solution of the care product in water at 20°C has a pH value of < 6.5.
