[origin: WO2017062978A2] An apparatus for drying articles of clothing includes a housing; a drum mounted for rotation within the housing, having an internal drum pressure and being sized and configured to receive moisture-laden clothing; rotation means for rotating the drum; a guide apparatus for guiding air in a path including through the drum; an air moving apparatus located after the drum and operable to pull air through the guide apparatus and including through the drum; a heating apparatus for heating air moving through the guide apparatus and before such air enters the drum, the heating apparatus including an electric heating element, a solar panel and a heat exchanger with first and second tube sets, the first tube set carrying fluid heated by the electric heating element and the second set carrying fluid heated by the solar panel; power means for providing power as needed to at least one of the rotation means; the guide apparatus, the air moving apparatus, the heating apparatus, and the control apparatus; a control apparatus for controlling at least one of the rotation means; the guide apparatus, the air moving apparatus, the heating apparatus, and the power means; and, restrictor means for impeding the airflow being pulled into the drum whereby the drum pressure is more than trivially lower than ambient air pressure.
