Abstract (en)
[origin: CN108396467A] The invention discloses a lockstitch sewing machine and a method for generating an upper seam start thread with a low protrusion. The lockstitch sewing machine has a machine frame, an upper thread store, and a lower thread store. A sewing needle serves to guide the upper thread. A gripper serves for wrapping of upper thread and lower thread. An upper thread starting portion detecting means is switchable between a neutral position, an upper thread detecting position and an upper thread clamping position. In the upper thread detection position, an upper thread starting portion is grasped by an upper thread detecting means. In the upper thread clamping position, the upper thread starting portion is clamped in a frame-fixed manner between the upper thread starting portion detecting means and acounter-clamping body. A starting thread cutter serves to cut off the upper thread starting portion. When cutting an upper thread residue from the other upper thread-starting portion with the initialthread diameter, an upper thread tension is used, which is generated when transporting the material. The result is a sewing machine, as well as a method with which a stitching top thread can be achieved with a desired short nominal seam overhang.
