Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung und ein Verfahren zum Abführen von seitlich aus einer kontinuierlichen Presse (2) zur Herstellung von Holzwerkstoffplatten austretenden Holzspänen oder anderen Holzpartikeln, wobei die kontinuierliche Presse (2) jeweils ein unter Pressspaltbildung (5) umlaufendes Oberband (3) und Unterband (4) aufweist, die mit Hilfe zumindest teilweise beheizbarer Druckplatten (7, 8) gegen einen Holzfaserwerkstoff (6) pressbar sind. Gemäß der Erfindung werden die Holzspäne oder anderen Holzpartikel so abgeführt, dass seitlich des Pressspaltes (6) zumindest in einem Endabschnitt der kontinuierlichen Presse (2) eine Auffangtrichteranordnung (15) für die Holzspäne oder andere Holzpartikel angeordnet ist, die diese zu einer mechanischen Transportvorrichtung (18) weiterleitet.
