[origin: CA3000282A1] The invention relates to a height control mechanism for a rail vehicle, consisting of suspension units which are located between the body and the bogie of the rail vehicle and each of which is composed of a spring and a pneumatic or hydraulic reciprocating piston element. According to the invention, the reciprocating piston element is retracted to such an extent during the driving mode that same does not bridge the gap between the body and the bogie.
