[origin: CA3008236A1] A milling device (14) for excavating mining materials (260) is disclosed. The milling device (14) comprises a milling drum (15) rotatable about a drum axis (200); a first group of excavating heads (18, 18', 18") arranged around a periphery of the milling drum (15) and driven to rotate about a first rotational axis (210) extending substantially radially to the drum axis (200); and a second group of excavating heads (20, 20', 20", 20"') arranged around the periphery of the milling drum (15) and rotatable about a second rotational axis (212) extending substantially radially to the drum axis (200). The first group of excavating heads (18, 18', 18") includes a plurality of first excavating tools (60, 60') configured to perform a first, cutting operation, and the second group of excavating heads (20, 20', 20", 20'") includes a plurality of second excavating tools (267) configured to perform a second excavating operation different from the first, cutting operation.
