The adapter is characterised in that it can be atttached to a holding device (79, 89) on the tube (19) or on the housing (4), with one of the two sections (25; 35) thereof, and can be movably mounted on the housing (4) or the tube (19), with the other section (25; 35), by means of a longitudinally mobile guide (96, 97, 109; 177, 179, 181). The invention also relates to a self-loading firearm (1) of an adapter (3) according to one of the claims 1 to 19, a holding device (79, 89) on the tube (19) or housing (4) for attaching the adapter (3), and a floating bearing on the housing (4) or the tube (19), which is designed for the longitudinally mobile guide of the adapter (3).
