[origin: WO2017085401A1] The invention relates to a ballistic protection element (10) for protecting the torso and/or back of a person. Said element (10) comprises, in the body thereof: a first stack (13) of a plurality of fiber layers (14) having surface dimensions capable of covering the torso or back of the person; and a second stack of a plurality of fiber layers that have surface dimensions smaller than the surface dimensions of the first stack (13) and are placed on top of said first stack (13) at a central portion (11) of the protection element (10) so as to form a reinforcement in said central portion (11). The layers of the first (13) and second stack are connected to each other in a binder matrix, at least in said central portion (11).
