[origin: WO2017089663A1] The invention relates to a tensioner (1) comprising a body (2) housing a piston (3) sliding with respect to the body (2) and called upon to deploy out of the body (2) by first return means (4), the body (2) bearing, in one zone of its periphery, a pawl (5) arranged on a pin (6) and provided with a first tooth (5a) which acts as a nonreturn through the meshing of this tooth (5a) with a notch (7a) of a series (7) of notches (7a) borne by the piston (3), downstream, relative to the direction of deployment of the piston (3), of the pivot pin (6) and then, by the bracing of the pawl (5) in the region of this tooth (5a, 5b) on the piston (3), characterized in that the pawl (5) bears a locking tooth (5c) which locks by meshing of this tooth (5c) in a notch (7a) of the series (7), upstream of the pin (6), and bracing of the pawl (5).
