Abstract (en)

The present invention refers to an arrangement to determine an imbalance (15) within a wash basket (2) of a washing machine (1). The washing machine (1) comprises a cabinet (3) enclosing a tub (4) which includes the wash basket (2) and two or more linking members (5) linking the tub (4) to the cabinet (3). The wash basket (2) is adapted to be in translational motion during rotation due to an unbalance in wash load. The arrangement comprises a suspension system (6) placed within the linking members (5) and adapted to generate a damping force to dampen translational motion of the wash basket (2), a sensor (7) adapted to measure the damping force in each of the suspension system (6), and adapted to generate a damping force data (8) based on the measured damping force for each of the suspension system (6), and a microcontroller (9) adapted to receive the damping force data (8) of each of the suspension system (6), and to process the damping force data (8) to determine the imbalance (15) within the wash basket (2).
