[origin: WO2017092969A1] The invention relates to a device and a method for transferring a web within a papermaking or cardboard machine from a first treatment unit (11) with a circumferential first fabric (8), against which the web (2) bears within a first web running path (15), to a second treatment unit (13) with a circumferential second fabric (9), onto which the web (2) is transferred and is guided within a second web running path (17), wherein a deflection roller (7) is provided which is configured as a suction roller and is suitable for lifting up the web (2) from the first fabric (8) and deflecting it in the direction of the second fabric (9). In order to design the transfer to be more reliable, it is provided that a web separating element (4) is arranged in the web running direction downstream of the deflection roller (7) which is configured as a suction roller.
