[origin: WO2017097846A1] The invention relates to a lighting device (2) for a modular lighting system, having the following - a lighting device housing (3) with a first end (6) and a second end (7) opposite the first end; and - a plurality of lighting means (11) which are arranged within the lighting device housing (3); wherein - the first end (6) has a first electric plug connection (8); - the second end (7) has a second electric plug connection (9); - the first plug connection (8) is electrically coupled to the plurality of lighting means (11) in order to supply power to same and to the second plug connection (9); and - one of the two plug connections (8, 9) of the lighting device (2) can be coupled to an additional lighting device (2) by means of a first or second plug connection (8, 9) of the additional lighting device (2) directly and/or using a connection piece (18). The invention further relates to a lighting system (1) and to a connection piece (18).
