[origin: WO2017068202A1] The invention relates to a method for controlling functionality of a vehicle (10) fitted with a first communication module (13), comprising the following steps: - upon detection of a command from the user, emitting a signal to an identifier (20) fitted with a second communication module (23) so as to initiate an exchange of electromagnetic signals between the first communication module (13) and the second communication module (23), said electromagnetic signals comprising at least two electromagnetic signals having different frequencies, - estimating a distance separating the vehicle (10) from the identifier (20) on the basis of the respective reception phases of said at least two electromagnetic signals, - controlling the functionality if the estimated distance verifies a predefined condition. An associated control system is also proposed.
