[origin: CN108796855A] The invention discloses an assembly (40) and sewing machine for producing a seam starting upper thread with a target seam protrusion of at least 10 mm. The assembly (40) has an upper thread catcher (41) for picking up a seam starting upper thread. The upper thread catcher (41) has an upper thread blade (42) with an upper thread pickup part. The upper thread catcher (41) also has a butt joint blade(44) and an upper thread clamp (45) and a displacement driver (48) for an upper thread pickup part. The upper thread pickup part can move the upper thread pickup position, an upper thread clamping position and an upper thread cutting position by use of the displacement driver (48). It results in a reproduceable required short target seam protrusion and a safety accessory.
