[origin: WO2017135823A2] The invention relates to a rig for removal of tubing from a well, e.g. a hydrocarbon well, the rig having a working floor, a tower structure provided with a tripping operation elevator, a slip device, and a tubulars connection makeup and breaking device, e.g. an iron roughneck machine or mechanized tong device, and/or a tubing cutting device. According to the invention, the rig further comprises a cable removal device, adapted to remove cables and/or control lines from the outside of the tubing, to provide a cleared external support zone fit for engagement by the slip device, preferably while said tubing is supported by an elevator of a tower structure of the rig, the support zone preferably also comprising aconnector part of a tubular of the tubing, to allow for the elevator to engage the tubing at, more in particular just below, the connector.
