[origin: US2019010630A1] Described are a device and a method for spreading a fibre bundle. In the case of the device, the fibre bundle is fed from a fibre bundle supply to a fibre consumer 5 by way of a resistance 3, having a first impulse drive 4.1 that interacts with said resistance 3, said fibre consumer 5 being disposed downstream of said resistance 3. The fibre bundle 1 by means of the impulse drive 4.1 during spreading is impingeable in an alternating manner in predefinable sequences with an additional speed component in the conveying direction of said fibre bundle and/or with an additional speed component counter to the conveying direction.
