Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung (10), ausgebildet und eingerichtet zum Schneiden von stabförmigen Artikeln (11) mehrfacher Gebrauchslänge der Tabak verarbeitenden Industrie, umfassend eine um eine Drehachse I rotierend antreibbare Schneidtrommel (12), wobei die Schneidtrommel (12) auf ihrer Umfangsfläche Mulden (13) zum Aufnehmen und Halten der stabförmigen Artikel (11) aufweist und die Mulden (13) parallel zur Drehachse I ausgerichtet sind, derart, dass die stabförmigen Artikel (11) queraxial zu ihrer Mittelachse förderbar sind, sowie eine Schneideinrichtung (14), die im Bereich des Umfangs der Schneidtrommel (12) angeordnet ist, derart, dass die Schneideinrichtung (14) mit den in den Mulden (13) liegenden stabförmigen Artikeln (11) in Eingriff bringbar ist, die sich dadurch auszeichnet, dass die Schneideinrichtung (14) einen rotierend antreibbaren Messerträger (15) mit mindestens einem ein Schneidmesser (16) tragenden Messerhalter (17) umfasst. Die Erfindung betrifft auch eine Maschine der Tabak verarbeitenden Industrie, insbesondere Filteransetzmaschine oder Filterzusammenstelleinrichtung, mit einer solchen Vorrichtung (10).
