[origin: EP3225900A1] A method for forming an outer layer (2, 3) around a liner (1) having a cylindrical portion (1a), in order to obtain a pressure vessel. The method comprises: forming one or more hoop wrapping layers (2) by wrapping one or more first fibre bundles with a first fibre angle between 80 and 100 degrees with respect to the axial direction of the cylindrical portion (1a); and forming one or more braided layers (3) by braiding one or more second fibre bundles with a second fibre angle below 75 degrees with respect to the axial direction of the cylindrical portion (1a). The one or more hoop wrapping (2) and braided (3) layers together form an outer layer around the cylindrical portion (1a), wherein preferably the hoop wrapping layers (2) comprise between 5 and 30 weight percent of the total fibre content of the outer layer; and the braided layers (3) comprises between 70 and 95 weight percent thereof.
