[origin: WO2017174220A1] The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for packing and/or grouping articles (2), preferably containers, in particular in order to form packages (3), at least comprising at least one transport device (10) for generating a flow of articles and at least one packing device (20) for packing the flow of articles using a film element (21), wherein the flow of articles can be transported in a transport direction (T) of the transport device (10) and the flow of articles can be wrapped using the film element (21), and at least one material separating device (30) which is arranged after the packing device (20) in the transport direction (T) and by means of which the film element (21) can be completely cut off after a predetermined number of articles (2) in order to obtain a package (3), wherein the cutting plane (S) is preferably arranged orthogonal to the transport direction (T). In that context, the material separating device (30) can be moved at least partially along and counter to the transport device, wherein the cutting element (31) is designed to cut and melt the film element (21).
