[origin: WO2017178251A1] The present invention is in the field of medicine and provides means and methods for the treatment, prevention or amelioration of osteoarthritis. More in particular, it provides a peptide for use in the treatment, amelioration or prevention of osteoarthritis, wherein the peptide is between 12 and 28 amino acids in length and comprises an amino acid sequence according to SEQ ID NO: 16 or a variant thereof according to formula 2, wherein the amino acid sequence of said peptide is comprised in SEQ ID NO: 34 or a variant thereof according to formula 1.
