Abstract (en)

The invention is directed to a system and a method of providing at least one numerical entity representative of a three-dimensional surface geometry and colour of at least part of an intra-oral cavity using a 3D colour scanner comprising an illumination source, the method comprising using the illumination source for obtaining a 3D entity and a 2D colour image of part of the intra-oral cavity, wherein the 2D colour image is taken using the same detection optics used for obtaining the 3D entity, and wherein the 3D colour scanner performs confocal imaging.
