The assembly device (1) has a support component (3) and a mechatronic installation component (7) which is held by the support component (3) and which comprises a controller (21). At least one assembly means (9, 13) is arranged on the support component (3), and the support component (3) is fixed in the elevator shaft in a fixed position. After the support component (3) is fixed, an actual position of the assembly means (9, 13) relative to the installation component (3) is determined. An assembly means (9, 13) is received by the installation component (7) using the determined actual position of the assembly means (9, 13) relative to the installation component (3), and an assembly step is carried out using the received assembly means (9, 13).
