[origin: WO2017198381A1] The invention relates to a method for ascertaining freewheel phases (PhFI) of an electric machine (114) coupled to an internal combustion engine (112) by a freewheel (111), having the steps of detecting a time curve of a phase signal (121) of the electric machine (114), ascertaining a time curve of at least one rotational speed (n) from the phase signal (121), and ascertaining at least one freewheel phase (PhFI) of the electric machine (114) from the rotational speed (n) using a first criterion (K1) and a second criterion (K2). The invention additionally relates to a corresponding computing unit (118) which is designed to carry out the method and to a corresponding computer program.
