There is disclosed a dishwashing machine (100, 200) comprising a moisture absorption device (262) for absorbing moisture from one or more items (114, 222) drying in the dishwashing machine. The dishwashing machine comprises a controller (134, 234) for controlling operation of a compression mechanism (276) of the moisture absorption device (262), for compressing and squeezing moisture out of the moisture absorption device (262).
