[origin: WO2017202621A1] The invention relates to a floor covering (10) of an escalator (100) or of a moving walkway. This floor covering has a support (12), a first covering element (1) and at least one adjoining covering element (2, 3, 4, 5). At least the first covering element (1) and the adjoining covering element (2) have arranged between them at least one device (20, 50) which predetermines a single-possible, correct installation position (X0) of the covering elements (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) on the floor-covering support (12), wherein, in the presence of a correct installation position (X0), the first covering element (1) and the adjoining covering element (2, 3, 4, 5) are arranged to rest flush on the floor-covering support (12) and, in the presence of an incorrect installation position (X1), the device (20, 50) provides for at least part of the adjoining covering element (2, 3, 4, 5) to be arranged in a visibly protruding manner on the floor-covering support (12).
