The invention also relates to a curtain applicator comprising an applicator head of this type. The invention further relates to a method for coating a continuous material web with at least one fluid and/or paste-like application medium by means of a curtain applicator comprising at least one applicator head having at least one outlet edge extending substantially over the width thereof, and where the application medium passes out of the applicator head in the form of a free-falling curtain and subsequently comes into contact with the material web, characterised in that the region of at least one of the at least one outlet edge can be supplied with a flowing gaseous rinsing medium.
