[origin: WO2017211489A1] The invention relates to a method for detecting wrong-way drivers, comprising the following steps: inputting positional data (106) via an interface, the positional data (106) representing a measured position of a vehicle (100); a step of inputting map data (116) which represents the sections of the road which can be driven by the vehicle (100); a step of inputting a plurality of particles, one particle representing a position occupied by the vehicle (100) and a weighting associated with the occupied position, and a step of determining a deviation between the plurality of particles and the measured position represented by the positional data (106) using the map data (116).
