Die Erfindung betrifft einen elektrischen Steckverbinder (2), umfassend ein Kodiergehäuse (4) zur elektrischen und mechanischen Verbindung mit einem kompatiblen Steckverbinder (3) und einen Steckerkörper (6) zur elektrischen und mechanischen Verbindung mit einer elektrischen Baugruppe (5, 14, 15, 16), wobei der kompatible Steckverbinder (3) entlang einer Einsteckrichtung (A) mit dem Kodiergehäuse (4) verbindbar ist, und wobei das Kodiergehäuse (4) und der Steckerkörper (6) eine mechanische Verbindungseinrichtung (8) aufweisen. Es ist vorgesehen, dass die Verbindungseinrichtung (8) ausgebildet ist, um das Kodiergehäuse (4) und den Steckerkörper (6) in Einsteckrichtung (A) formschlüssig miteinander zu verbinden, wobei die Verbindungseinrichtung (8) eine von der Einsteckrichtung (A) abweichende Montagebewegung (B) vorgibt, um das Kodiergehäuse (4) und den Steckerkörper (6) miteinander zu verbinden.
