Die Erfindung betrifft einen Trockner, umfassend ein Gehäuse, eine innerhalb des Gehäuses um eine erste Drehachse 3 drehbar gelagerte Trommel 1 zur Aufnahme von Wäschestücken, wobei die Trommel 1 während des Betriebes des Trockners mit mindestens zwei Rollenvorrichtungen 2 in Kontakt steht, und eine Sicherungsvorrichtung 4 zum Schutz vor einer Beschädigung bei Stößen auf den Trockner, wobei die Sicherungsvorrichtung 4 ausgestaltet ist, um zumindest in einem Transportzustand des Trockners im Kontakt mit der Rollenvorrichtung 2 zu stehen. Die Erfindung betrifft außerdem ein Verfahren zum Betrieb dieses Trockners.
