[origin: EP3474565A1] A device is disclosed for determining bandwidth maps for an upcoming time interval in an optical distribution network, ODN, and is configured to i) determine (404) dynamic upstream bandwidth allocations for an optical network unit, ONU, based on expected upstream data bursts during the upcoming time interval; and ii) estimate (407) an amount of data that was not transmitted during a preceding time interval resulting from a misalignment in time between upstream data bursts and bandwidth during the preceding time interval; and iii) increase (408) one or more of the determined dynamic upstream bandwidth allocations such that transmission of the estimated amount of data is additionally allocated during the upcoming time interval; and iv) construct (409) the bandwidth maps based on the increased dynamic bandwidth allocations.
