[origin: WO2018007746A1] The disclosed steam iron (4) comprises a vapor distribution circuit (16) in which a vapor stream can flow, and a retention device (18) designed to retain water droplets carried along in the vapor stream and vaporize said retained water droplets. The retention device (18) includes a retention element (19) comprising: - a duct (21) with a tubular peripheral wall (22) that has a bottom inlet (23) through which the vapor stream enters the duct (21) and a top outlet (24) through which the vapor stream exits the duct (21); - a central member (25) in the center of the duct (21); - and a plurality of connecting elements (27) which run through the duct (21) and each of which (27) extends from the tubular peripheral wall (22) to the central member (25). When viewed in a projection plane running perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (A) of the duct (21), the connecting elements (27) and the central member (25) cover at least 60% of the internal cross-section of the duct (21).
