[origin: WO2018007747A1] This steam iron (4) comprises a steam distribution circuit (16) in which a flow of steam is intended to flow, and a retention device (18) configured to hold back water droplets carried along in the flow of steam and to vaporise the said held-back water droplets. The retention device (18) comprises a retaining member (19) comprising a pipe (21) comprising a peripheral wall (22) comprising a lower inlet opening (23) via which the flow of steam enters the pipe (21) and an upper outlet opening (24) via which the flow of steam leaves the pipe (21); and a retaining element (26) extending from the peripheral wall (21) and configured to hold back water droplets carried along by the flow of steam, the retaining element (26) delimiting an intermediate passage opening (28) having a bore section smaller than the bore section of the lower inlet opening (23).
