Abstract (en)

The present invention provides a centrifugal separator including a cylindrical basket (2) that has a body part provided with a filtration screen (2a) and is configured to rotate about an axis of the basket (2) and a pushing plate (7) that is accommodated inside the basket (2) and is provided to be rotatable integrally with basket and movable relatively in an axis (O) direction of the basket (2). When a cake, which is filtered by the filtration screen (2a) from a substance to be processed supplied inside the basket (2), is discharged by pushing the cake to an open end (2b) side of the basket (2) by the pushing plate (7), a relative movement speed between the pushing plate (7) and the basket (2) in the axis (O) direction is set such that a relative movement speed in a direction where an interval (D) between the pushing plate (7) and an open end (2b) of the basket (2) in the axis (O) direction becomes large is lower than a relative movement speed in a direction where the interval (D) becomes small.
