Verdichter für ein Streckwerk einer Spinnmaschine, zur Anordnung zwischen einem Lieferzylinder (3) und einer Ausgangsdruckwalze (1), mit einem zu einer Lieferdruckwalze (2) des Streckwerks (S) hin orientierten sich verjüngenden ersten Verdichterkanal (8), der dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass der Verdichter (4) einen zweiten Verdichterkanal (10) aufweist, der in Laufrichtung eines verstreckten Faserbandes (VF) gesehen vor dem ersten Verdichterkanal (8) und fluchtend mit diesem angeordnet ist.
