[origin: WO2018019442A1] The invention relates to a method for printing on containers (2) by means of a printing apparatus (1) having one or more conveying elements (6) which can be driven in rotation about a vertical machine axis (MA). Multiple printing stations (7), which each have at least one printing head, are provided on each conveying element (6), and the printing stations (7) of a conveying element (6) are each designed to apply a printed image with at least one printing ink, in particular a partial printed image. The method comprises the following steps: − providing overall image data which contains image information relating to several different printing inks; − extracting partial image data from the overall image data, each set of partial image data relating to a printing ink applied by the printing stations (7) of a conveying element (6); − providing printing-head-specific calibration data at the printing station (7); − calculating printing head image data from the partial image data assigned to the respective printing station (7) on the basis of the printing-head-specific calibration data; − printing on the container (2) at the respective printing station (7) on the basis of the printing head image data.
