Abstract (en)
The loading of print media rolls (R1, R2) for web printers (40) is a cumbersome process, which requires the insertion of a roll core support (28C) through the media roll (28, 30). During these operations, the media can become contaminated or damaged. The present invention provides a loading station (60) for temporarily holding a media roll (28, 30). The loading station comprises a roll stopper (63A-63H) which prevents movement of the media roll (cf. fig. 4) while inserting the roll core support (28C). Sometimes a foil (28D) needs to be removed from the media roll (28, 30). The loading station (60) may theerfore also be used to keep the media roll in a suspended position (cf. fig. 5) by comprising lifting devices (63A-63H) ; lifting devices can then be selectively lowered to facilitate easy removal of the foil (28D) from the media roll. Roll loading can thus be easily performed by a single operator.
