Abstract (en)
A gas turbine engine includes a fan (42) and a first drive shaft (68) connected to the fan (42). A fan drive gear box (48) connects the first drive shaft (68) to a second drive shaft (40) and is configured to allow the first drive shaft (68) to rotate at a different speed than the second drive shaft (40). The gas turbine engine also includes a sprag clutch (64) disposed circumferentially around the first drive shaft (68) and connected to the first drive shaft (68). The sprag clutch (64) is configured to allow rotation of the first drive shaft (68) and the fan (42) in a first direction while prohibiting rotation of the fan (42) and the first drive shaft (68) in a second direction.
