[origin: EP3514277A1] A sewing machine and the method for closing open end of tubular knitted articles. The sewing machine is configured to knit and close the open end of a tubular knitted article, comprising a frame (10), a knitting head (20) and a thread cutter. The knitting head (20) and the thread cutter are disposed rotatable on the frame (10), the knitting head (10) has a needle (1), a needle-shaped hook (2) and a knot making peg (3) to form thread knots (44), and the thread cutter is configured to cut the knitting thread, wherein the thread cutter is configured in a fashion of making a relative movement to the knitting head (20).
