[origin: WO2018054588A1] The invention relates to a method for removing, by means of a removal device (13), a product reel (08) which is printed in a web-fed press (01) and wound up on the output side of the web-fed press (01) on a winder (07). In said method, control means (29, 31, 32, 36, 41) of the winder signal that the reel is ready to be removed by generating a release signal, after which a removal process is initiated once a criterion for the correct positioning of the product reel (08) has been queried. To this end, at least one drive means (24, 27, 57, 76) driving a receiving means (19, 21) is signal-connected, in order to control said drive means, to control means (36) that control one or multiple functions of the removal device (13). A vertical change in position of a measurement point located on the product reel (08) when lifted by the receiving means (19, 21) can be taken into consideration as a criterion for the correct positioning of the product reel (08) by the receiving means (19, 21). For safety purposes, a loading state of a transport means (21) receiving the product reel (08) can be monitored.
