[origin: WO2018065080A1] The invention relates to a tamping unit (1) for tamping sleepers (2) of a track (3), comprising a tool carrier (6) which is mounted on a unit frame (12) and is height-adjustable by means a drive (10), pairs of two opposite tamping tools (5) which can be adjusted relative to each other and can be caused to oscillate by an oscillation drive (8) about a respective pivot axis (4), wherein a vibration drive (11) is associated with the drive (10), said vibration drive setting the tamping tools (5) into a vertically acting vibration.
