[origin: CA3039078A1] The device according to the invention for drying or heating and cooling pourable substances consists of a rotatable drum having means for receiving the pourable substance into a first region and means for discharging the pourable substance from a second region, wherein a central region is arranged between the first and second region, which central region consists of an annular structure having a first and a second diaphragm each having central diaphragm openings which substantially form two mutually parallel diaphragm planes, and have a plurality of transporting ducts which are closed to the central region and are intended for transporting the pourable substance from the first into the second region of the rotatable drum through the central region, wherein the transporting ducts extend from the first to the second diaphragm at an angle unequal to 90° with respect to the two diaphragm planes.
