Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2018077678A1] In order to control a lamp system having a gas-discharge lamp, an electronic ballast and a control unit, a performance-influencing controlled variable of the lamp system is used. In order to specify, on the basis of this, a method for operating a gas-discharge lamp which enables operation with a high emission performance irrespective of the design of the lamp and any changes on account of lamp ageing and without knowledge of the optimum operating temperature, the invention proposes that light intensity control is provided, in which an actual value of a light intensity emitted by the gas-discharge lamp is measured by means of a light sensor and the emitted light intensity is used as the controlled variable.
