According to the invention, the apparatus has at least the following components: a sample holding device (48) for holding one or more samples (8); an auxiliary means holding device (22, 23, 24) for holding one or more auxiliary means; a sample carrier holding device (21) for holding one or more sample carriers (6); a discharge device (41) for discharging one or more samples (8) from a discharge position; and a collecting device (34) for collecting one or more discharged samples (8) in a collecting position, obtaining one or more prepared sample(s) (9); wherein the distance between the discharge position and the collecting position is adjustable to a predefinable height (ha), and the apparatus (1) also has at least one temperature control device (2, 51) for controlling the temperature of at least one of the sample carriers (6).
