[origin: WO2018077620A1] The invention relates to a method for determining the quality of liquid fuel for internal combustion engines in a low-pressure region of a fuel supply system of a motor vehicle using the evaporation behaviour of the fuel, by detecting the point in time at which vapour bubbles appear and establishing an associated fuel temperature. The invention is characterised in that, during steady-state operation of the internal combustion engine, triggered by an engine control unit, vapour bubbles are made to form in the fuel, and the formation of the vapour bubbles is detected by means of a pressure sensor in the low-pressure region, wherein an evaluation of the pressure measurements of the pressure sensor subsequently shows a sudden reduction in amplitude of low-pressure fluctuations.
