[origin: WO2018083333A1] The present invention relates to a machining center (30) for the machining of workpieces (38), comprising at least one machining area (32), in which a machine tool (10) for the metal-cutting machining of workpieces (38), said tool comprising at least one work spindle, is disposed, at least one set-up area (40), in which a workpiece (38) to be machined can be clamped into at least one clamping system (37) with the aid of a clamping means (28) in order to be machined and a machined workpiece (38) can be removed from the clamping system (37), and a displacement path (36), which extends linearly from the set-up area (40) into the machining area (32) and along which the at least one clamping system (37) can be moved between the set-up area (40) and the machining area (32), wherein the workpiece (38) to be machined can be moved, during machining, along the displacement path (36) relative to the work spindle by means of the at least one clamping system (37).
