[origin: EP3536621A1] The invention relates to a device (1) and method for packaging compost containing straw and moisture, particularly compost of horse manure with straw. The method comprises of receiving unpackaged compost in a receiving unit (2), compressing a quantity of unpackaged, moisture-containing compost in at least one direction with a pressing unit (3) for the purpose of forming a block of compressed compost, wherein the pressing pressure of the pressing unit is sufficiently high to press at least some of the moisture from the moisture-containing compost, discharging the moisture pressed from the moisture-containing compost, and packaging the compressed and dehydrated compost block in packaging material.
